When it comes to the largest IPO in five years, the Prospectus absolutely, positively has to be right: that’s why clients choose Black&Callow. So we’re delighted to have helped with the mammoth £5.3bn IPO of Airtel Money.
Airtel Africa’s mobile payments firm began trading at 8am this morning in not only the biggest London listing in five years, but also a major global debut for an African fintech platform.
The group has set the offer price at £1.96 per share with plans to make its stock market debut on October 14th. The retail offer closed yesterday. Existing shareholders, which include the Qatar Investment Authority and Mastercard, are offering up 270m shares that is expected to raise around £529m.
Airtel Africa, its parent, will retain a long-term stake. The IPO will give the market a shot in the arm after an IPO drought and a string of firms being bought or switching their listings abroad.
Our thanks to our wonderful clients at Airtel Money, legal advisors A&O Shearman, Citigroup Global Markets Limited as Sole Sponsor, Lead Left Global Coordinator and Joint Bookrunner, alongside Joint Global Coordinators and Joint Bookrunners Barclays Bank PLC, Merrill Lynch International (Bank of America), Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE, and J.P. Morgan Securities.
